Colorimetry for LED Users (online course) Feb. 19-21, 2024

$500.00Price

This three-day online short course covers what engineers in illumination optics need to know about to quantify color, with special emphasis on LEDs. A basic working knowledge of optics is assumed.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • be familiar with the common color spaces, including CIE 1931 XYZ
  • intuitively grasp additive color mixing and LED binning
  • compute which LEDs to mix in which amounts to achieve desired color and brightness
  • use JMO’s open-source Matlab® spectrum library (if you are a Matlab user)
  • understand the Color Rendering Index (CRI) and its limitations
  • use various color difference metrics to assess homogeneity
  • Dates and times

This course will be held via Zoom in three sessions, three hours each.

    Feb. 19-21, 2024 (Mon,Tue,Wed)
All sessions at same time of day:
    8:00 to 11:00 a.m.                Pacific, which is
    11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.       Eastern, which is
    17:00 to 20:00                       Central European

  • Zoom / Hardware / Software

The course is held via Zoom. Meeting invitations including the Zoom link will be sent out well in time before the courses starts. We recommend to participate using the Zoom Desktop client, the connection tends to be more stable than with just a browser (which works also). It is not a must, but greatly appreciated, if you have a working web cam: The course is much more lively and interactive when we see each other. A second monitor is also a good idea, to show the main window with the course material on one screen and the participants, the chat and other stuff on a secondary monitor.

  • Applicable discounts

When you book all four courses together here, you will receive a 10% discount compared to individual prices.

When two or more persons from the same company book any course, the second, third etc. person will receive a 60% discount. Effectively, that means an overall 30% discount for two, an overall 40% discount for three persons etc. Please contact us at julius@jmoptics.de to receive a discount code.

There is a small number of seats on each course reserved for students or faculty members, at a substantial case-by-case discount. Please contact us at julius@jmoptics.de to discuss.
